Bob Beatrice - Head Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach Coach Beatrice is beginning his 12th season as the Girls’ coach. The Current have won back-to-back SCAA Championships and are poised to make a run at a third. Coach Beatrice, who is also the Athletic Director, previously coached at Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. before migrating to the Midwest. He believes in a fast paced tempo and drives the girls to play tough man-to-man defense. The 3-point shot is also a focal point of the offense. |
Joe Stickley - Head Tennis Coach Joe Stickley returns to lead our defending District Champion Varsity Tennis team. Joe is very excited about taking the group he began to mold and develop last season to great success this season. Alumna Devin McMahon, who graduated from Quincy University with a degree in sports management, will return to assist Joe. The team will again be playing at the beautiful Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.

Mark Norwood - Head Girls' Soccer Coach Mark has come to us after teaching at New City School. He is Varsity Soccer coach of the girls soccer program and has done a tremendous job. Mark played college soccer at St. Louis University and has coached many years in the local youth leagues. Mark also served as an assistant coach prior to taking over the reigns of the program. Mark is the Dean of Ethics and Social Responsibility at Crossroads and is the father of two Crossroads College Prep alumni. |
Stephen Abdul Hamid- Head Boys' Basketball Coach Coach Abdul-Hamid is beginning his third season as Head Coach of the Current. He has seen a steady improvement in each year. Coach played basketball at Northwest High school here in St. Louis before heading off to play college ball at New Mexico State and Wichita State. Coach has worked at Northwest High School, run a successful AAU program (St. Louis Blazers) and coached at MICDS. One of his sons , Mustafa, played basketball at MICDS and UCLA. He is now playing professionally overseas. Coach Abdul-Hamid runs a disciplined system that brings out the best in all of his players. He is stern yet fair with his players and strongly believes that basketball is an opportunity to improve the character of young men and helps prepare them for real life situations. |
Ben Peet-Head Boys' Varsity Soccer Ben hails from the UK and will bring a European flair to our team’s game. He played at the University of Bath and coached club soccer overseas. Ben enjoys playing a “wide” game with the ball and narrowing the field with structure on the defensive side .He is eager to get started and to develop our players to their fullest. Joining Ben will be veteran assistant coaches Gail Updegraff and Ben Birch. The team will be practicing in Forest Park and will play their games at Midwest Soccer Academy. |
Michael Ellermann-Head Boys’ JV Basketball Coach Coach Ellermann joins CCPS this winter with the Boys’ Basketball program. He will run the JV and assist Coach Abdul-Hamid with the Varsity squad. He has coached a number of sports at many local high schools. He has worked at Affton, Hazelwood Central and Riverview Gardens. He has coached cross country, track, soccer, baseball as well as basketball. Darryl “Pee Wee” Lenard-Assistant Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach Coach Lenard is new to our coaching staff this season. He comes to us as a local product, having been a standout at St. Louis University. He has worked with a successful AAU club (St. Louis Eagles) and was an Assistant Coach at Ranger College in Texas. Coach Lenard specializes in the fundamentals of the game. Devin McMahon-Assistant Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach Coach McMahon is a CCPS graduate and returns after finishing at Quincy University in Athletic Management. She played tennis at the collegiate level after completing her career at Crossroads in both tennis and basketball. |
